Is Your Brand Invisible to the AI Ecosystem?

Your brand is invisible to AI when ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Meta AI, Grok, and DeepSeek cannot crawl, parse, or verify your website, so they answer your customers’ questions with another company’s name. Top Tier Presence measures that gap for multi-unit franchise operators and local service businesses, then closes it.

Free, no login. The on-page scan returns your live GEO readiness score (a sample plays if scripts are off); the emailed report follows within 1 business day.

Free GEO Score Tester

The GEO Score Tester is a free audit that returns a 100-point GEO readiness score: a technical measure of how easily AI answer engines can crawl, parse, and cite your homepage.

The live tester runs our Gold v2 quick check on your public homepage, robots.txt, and llms.txt: rules for8 AI crawler tokens, JSON-LD entities, heading structure, and visible proof. With scripts off, it plays a sample report scored on the full audit’s rubric.

Readiness is not visibility. How often ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Meta AI, Grok, and DeepSeek actually name your brand is a separate measure: the 6-engine Share of Model baseline, built from a50-prompt panel per engine in the paid audit. The tester does not query the engines or measure citations.

How the full audit’s 100 readiness points are weighted

The full audit and the sample report use this 10-check rubric. It weights JSON-LD schema highest, at 30 of 100 points, because structured data states which entity a page describes in a form every parser can read. The live quick check applies the Gold v2 deductions instead; both methods are published in llms-full.txt section 5.

JSON-LD schema
30 points
15 for parseable, typed JSON-LD; 15 for a LocalBusiness-family entity such as ProfessionalService or Restaurant.
AI crawler access
20 points
8 crawler tokens checked against robots.txt for the scanned path: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Meta-ExternalAgent, CCBot.
Metadata
20 points
Title, meta description, canonical URL, and og:image, 5 points each.
Heading hierarchy
15 points
10 for exactly one H1, 5 for at least one H2.
Content depth
15 points
15 above 500 words of body text, 10 above 200 words.
  1. Enter your domain

Stage 1 takes one input: the domain whose homepage you want graded.

  2. Watch the crawler check

The crawler check reads your robots.txt and page source the way an AI retrieval bot does, one rule at a time.

What is Generative Engine Optimization?

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of structuring a website’s crawler access, schema, and content so AI answer engines retrieve it, trust it, and cite it by name.

In GEO-bench, a 10,000-query benchmark from a Princeton University-led team presented at KDD 2024, adding citations, quotations, and statistics to source pages raised visibility in generative engine responses by up to 40%. The same methods lifted visibility by up to 37% on Perplexity.ai, a live answer engine.

Lower-ranked pages gained the most: the study reports a 115.1% visibility increase for websites ranked fifth in search results. Keyword stuffing, the reflex from classic SEO, lowered visibility on Perplexity.ai below the unoptimized baseline.

Demand is moving the same way. Gartner predicted in February 2024 that traditional search engine volume would fall 25% by 2026 as people shift to AI chatbots and virtual agents.

The 4 numbers we report

Top Tier Presence reports GEO progress in 4 metrics: Share of Model, Citation Recall, Vector Proximity, and Entity Authority.

Share of Model (SoM)
Share of Model is the percentage of AI answers, across a fixed prompt panel, that name your brand. A brand named in 12 of 50 ChatGPT answers holds a 24% Share of Model on ChatGPT.
Citation Recall
Citation Recall is the percentage of AI answers that cite or link a URL on your domain as a source. It separates being mentioned from being trusted as the source.
Vector Proximity
Vector Proximity is the cosine similarity, from 0 to 1, between the embedding of your passage and the embedding of a customer prompt. Retrieval systems pull the closest passages into an answer, so higher proximity means a higher chance of being read.
Entity Authority
Entity Authority is the percentage of authoritative sources (your site, Google Business Profile, Wikidata, directories, press) that describe your brand with the same name, category, locations, and founders. Consistent sources resolve to one Knowledge Graph entity.

“More of your customers now ask an AI assistant where to eat or who to call, and the assistant quotes the sources it can read and verify. Princeton’s GEO-bench study measured up to a 40% visibility lift from adding citations, quotations, and statistics. I built Top Tier Presence to do that work location by location, and to report it in numbers an operator can audit.”

How Top Tier Presence works

Top Tier Presence works in a 3-phase cycle that measures how AI engines read your brand, fixes what blocks them, and keeps measuring.

  1. Audit & Identify

Audit & Identify is a fixed-scope diagnostic that scores your corporate site and every location page on the 100-point GEO rubric and records a baseline Share of Model in 6 answer engines.

    • 50 prompts per engine, 300 prompt runs in total
    • Ranked fix list delivered in 10 business days
    • Covers robots.txt, CDN bot rules, schema, and page structure
  2. Remediate & Inject

Remediate & Inject is the build phase: we open crawler access, publish llms.txt and llms-full.txt, deploy JSON-LD entity schema, and rewrite priority pages so the first sentence under every heading answers the question.

    • CDN bot settings checked, because they can block crawlers that robots.txt allows
    • 10 pages rewritten per month on Silver, 30 on Gold
    • Entity schema on every location page on Gold
  3. Monitor & Defend

Monitor & Defend is continuous measurement: the same prompt panel reruns on a fixed schedule, and any drop in Share of Model or Citation Recall, or any false statement about your brand, starts a correction.

    • Monthly reruns on Silver, weekly on Gold
    • 150 prompts per engine across 8 engines on Gold
    • Corrections start within 48 hours on Gold

GEO questions, answered directly

This FAQ answers the 8 questions multi-unit operators ask most before they buy GEO services.

What is a GEO score?

A GEO score is a 0 to 100 measure of how easily AI answer engines can crawl, parse, and cite a web page. Top Tier Presence weights it across 5 categories: JSON-LD schema (30 points), AI crawler access (20), metadata (20), heading hierarchy (15), and content depth (15). The free live tester uses a shorter Gold v2 check of the same page. A GEO score measures technical readiness, not how often engines name your brand; that is Share of Model.

How is GEO different from SEO?

SEO earns a ranked link on a results page; GEO earns a mention or a cited source inside an AI-generated answer. GEO builds on SEO rather than replacing it, because Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, and Perplexity retrieve from crawled web indexes before they write an answer.

Which AI crawlers should my robots.txt allow?

Allow the retrieval crawlers that feed live answers: OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot, and Bingbot. Training tokens such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, Meta-ExternalAgent, and CCBot are a business decision; allowing them raises the odds that future models know your brand. Check your CDN too, because bot-blocking settings can stop crawlers that robots.txt allows.

Does llms.txt improve AI visibility?

llms.txt, an optional Markdown summary at a site’s root proposed in September 2024, has no confirmed effect on which sources AI answer engines cite. Google’s May 2026 AI optimization guidance says it is not needed for AI Overviews or AI Mode, and an Ahrefs log study from May 2026 found that 97% of llms.txt files received zero requests. Top Tier Presence still ships one, because it takes under an hour and states your entity facts in one place for any agent that reads it.

How long before AI answers change?

Retrieval-based answers can change within days of a recrawl, while facts stored in a model’s training data change only when the vendor ships a new model. Top Tier Presence measures both: the prompt panel tracks retrieval monthly or weekly, and each major model release is retested for training-data recall.

Can anyone guarantee AI citations?

No GEO provider can guarantee a citation, because no provider controls which sources ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Meta AI, Grok, or DeepSeek select. Top Tier Presence guarantees deliverables and measurement: fixes shipped, schema deployed, and Share of Model and Citation Recall reported against your baseline.

How does audit rollover work?

Audit rollover keeps paid audit value from expiring: the $3,500 Bronze fee is credited in full toward Silver or Gold if you upgrade within 60 days of delivery. On monthly plans, unused audit credits roll forward 1 billing cycle on Silver and 2 on Gold, and all unexpired credits carry over when you upgrade.

Who is Top Tier Presence for?

Top Tier Presence is built for franchise operators with 5 or more locations and for local service businesses whose customers ask AI assistants where to eat, who to call, or what to buy. Founder Ryan Zabierek brings 18+ years of food service management to every audit.
